Doomsday is a local-multiplayer twin-stick shooter where up to 4 players play as outcasts that are trying to stop the end of the world. Play as one of 4 unique characters, each with their own weapons and abilities!
Doomsday was developed as part of a project at the HKU. I was not enrolled at the HKU at this point, but I offered to join the project to gain experience in game development. We created it with a group of 6 people: 2 artists, 2 game designers, a sound designer and me as a programmer. This was my first larger project where I was the sole programmer and I learned a lot because of it. I worked a lot with the animation systems in Unity, and I also worked together closely with the audio designer to integrate his work in FMOD into the game.
An interesting aspect of this project is that its deadline coincided with that of my bachelor project. Because of that, I made it clear early on that I might not be available much near the end of the project. Consequently, readability, an intuitive structure and clear comments became big priorities, so the team could take over as frictionless as possible.
