Bombwatch
Bombwatch is a game I made with 3 others for the Nordic Game Jam 2021. The theme was “Pending”. After paper prototyping a few ideas we settled on the fun in the idiom of ‘a watched pot never boils’. Our take was a watched bomb never booms. We focused on two main mechanics: the player needs to look at all the bombs to finish the level and the bombs will sometimes move. We prototyped our mechanics on the first evening and spend the remaining one and a half day creating levels and polishing.
The result is a laugh-out-loud stress fest as you feel like you contort your peripheral vision to just catch a glimpse of the ticking disasters on the edge of your screen. The game saw a flash of popularity on Twitch so we are looking to see how we can develop our prototype into a fully fledged puzzle release.
My role on the project was to implement the bombs-tick-when-you-look-away logic as well as the general game flow, as well as designing a portion of the levels. All the non-music sounds in the game are spoken words and sounds, which we all contributed to. BEEP!
